Announcements

• Boxtops contest ends this Friday - please send them in!
• Tomorrow is recycling day - please wear green!
• Young Author's Competition - submissions are due 2/14 
• I have copies of the rules and submission forms for students 
• All students who submit an entry (which the appropriate forms, no names on the piece, etc.) will earn a Lunch Bunch with me as well as a free one assignment of Spelling Contract Pass (my ELA kids only)

• Spelling contract (the kids have one less assignment this week - do the easy tech pieces!)

Testing:
Checkpoints testing is currently going on - we have 4 tests (reading, language arts, math, and science) as our final data point before CRCT.  Each test takes place during math (2/6, 2/8, 2/11, and 2/12), so we have a little bit of a pause in our curriculum.  We will have afternoon math on Friday to keep up!

Please do not be tardy/absent if possible!!

Special Events

• Thursday, 2/14 - Valentine card exchange - please, no candy or chocolate (I'm not eating any sweets right now!) - if you are sending in cards for the exchange, you must send one in for every child.  Below are the names of our class as well as the students that join us for ELA. (only for my ELA children!)
• You can make or decorate a mailbox at home and bring it in.  We will not make any in school (they will have white paper bags)

Relay for Life Awareness Week 

• Send in dollars to buy stars to honor cancer patients and survivors as well as support the cause!
• Monday 2/11:  Crazy socks day
• Tuesday 2/12:  Crazy hat day
• Wednesday 2/13:  Team/Sports day
• Thursday 2/14:  pajama day - must wear real shoes 

Field Trip:

• We need three chaperones.  I will take email submissions until Friday, then I will draw out of a hat for parents to attend.  You must be approved and background checked to chaperone.  
• Permission slips will go home tomorrow!!
