Tuesday, 12/6 HW

Math:  Everyone:  finish the graphing project (we spent the entire time on it today-the kids should have finished or be very close to done) - it must have be neat with ruler-drawn lines so that the reader can easily and clearly determine what information the graph is conveying.  *Tally table, pictograph, line plot, bar graph, and data interpretation and analysis (this part must have 5 (or more! wahoo!) statements or more describing trends in the data.

Homework is to complete the project, and answer the back of the M&M's sheet questions.

*again, test is moved to Thursday!

ELA:  NO spelling contract or story this week.  Save the spelling contract you've started for next week!  :)We have Georgia Writes Preparation and Practice Test.

This week your child will be taking a practice writing assessment.  They will be writing a story based on a given topic.  We will be sending the stories out to be scored.  Once the results are back you will get an individual score report for this sample.  You can look for these scores in January.  The scores will be used to guide our instruction and to set individual writing goals.  These scores are not a part of the Third Grade Georgia Writing Assessment and will  not be included in student averages.  We are excited to get independent feedback and information to help up enrich your child’s writing instruction.

ELA homework tonight:  brainstorm 5 times you have been surprised (either in a good or bad way)
and review the Star Writer's resources (strong verbs, sizzlers, sparklers, sentence variety, transitions, etc.) - we will review this tonight and tomorrow night because they cannot be used on Thursday and Friday.

Your child will love this week because we have extended writing workshop everyday, which they LOVE!!  I am so proud of their progress already this year, and I am excited to see how they will perform on their assessment this week.  Please pump your child up full of encouragement and excitement rather than scaring them or making them nervous.  We've talked a lot about demonstrating all they have learned and that are going to ROCK!!!

Start studying for Science on Friday - we started the study guide today, plus I posted the SG and the answers.  :)
