New SS Unit to begin 10/22

During the afternoons of ITBS week, we will begin our new Social Studies Unit, Individual Freedoms.  Depending on how much the students can cover with Mrs. Eelman while I am gone, we will test tentatively on Wednesday, Oct. 31.  I will base it on the students' needs once I return!

Standards:
 SS3H2 The student will discuss the lives of Frederick Douglass (civil rights), Susan B. Anthony (women’s rights), and Mary McLeod Bethune (education), who expanded people’s rights and freedoms in a democracy.
b. Explain social barriers, restrictions, and obstacles that these historical figures had to overcome and describe how they overcame them.
SS3CG2 The student will discuss the character of Frederick Douglass, Susan B. Anthony, and Mary McLeod Bethune.
a. Describe how these different historical figures displayed positive character traits of cooperation, diligence, courage, and leadership.
